Про любовь с улыбкой)))

The Confession
by Brian Patten

When he showed her the photograph again, she said,
"Yes, I remember taking it.
I was incredibly young then.
You handed me the camera
And telling me over and over how to use it
You posed, smiling stiffly.
You were so pompous, so blind to everything.
It was a July afternoon.
The day was hot and my body hummed.
I was bored and in search of adventure
That seemed beyond you.
Yet how can I forget that day?
Look closer at the photograph.
See there in the background,
In the corner behind you
The other boy, grinning so openly."

Множественное число - для старших

Ранее я уже писала про множественное число - урок для 5 класса. Но тема множественного числа хороша и для старшеклассников. Тут помогает следующее стихотворение -

The Arbitrary English Language

We’ll begin with box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox should be oxen, not oxes.
The one fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of mouse should never be meese.
You may find one mouse, or a whole nest of mice,
But the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
Why shouldn’t the plural of pan be called pen?
The cow in the plural may be cows or kine,
But a bow, if repeated, is never called bine;
And the plural of vow is vows, never vine.
If I speak of a foot, and you show me your feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn’t the plural of booth be called beeth?
If the singular is this and the plural is these,
Should the plural of kiss ever be nicknamed keese?
Then one may be that and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren,
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his, him,
But imagine the feminine she, shis and shim!
So English, I think you all will agree,
Is the greatest language you ever did see.

Заданием для старшеклассников может быть краткий пересказ этого стихотворения, приводя некоторые примеры необычного образования множественного числа.

Дополительная информация по теме множественного числа -

Нужно помнить про множественное число существительных в английском языке, которые были заимствованы из других языков, чаще всего из греческого и латинского, является исключением. Вот лишь несколько слов, но это не полный список:
phenomenon – phenomena (явление)
datum – data (информация)
formula – formulae (формула)
genius – genii (гений)

I Cannot Go To School Today!
by Shel Silverstein

"I cannot go to school today"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.

My mouth is wet, my throat is dry.
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox.

And there's one more - that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue,
It might be the instamatic flu.

I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke.
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in.

My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My toes are cold, my toes are numb,

I have a sliver in my thumb.

My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,

I think my hair is falling out.

My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,

There's a hole inside my ear.

I have a hangnail, and my heart is ...
What? What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is .............. Saturday?

G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

Множественное число. Настоящее длительное время. Урок в 5 классе.

Основа урока - стихотворение. Вернее, считалочка.
Ученики обычно выучивают его за три урока, если использовать стихотворение только как речевую зарядку.
Но я предлагаю потратить на него побольше времени. Вернее, на первом уроке - около 30 минут, а потом пара уроков - по 5-10 минут, как повторение.
Конечно, хорошо, если ребята уже знакомы с необычным образованием множественного числа -
a man - men
a woman - women
a child - children
............
Тогда можно сразу начать описывать картинки. Каждому предложению соответствует картинка.

One man is selling hats.

Two men are painting cats.

Three women are making flowers.

Four children are counting hours.

Five sheep have dirty feet.

Six babies have clean teeth.

Seven boxes are full of rocks.

Eight mice are wearing socks.

One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight,
writing poems is really great!

True or False:

1. One man is buying hats.
2. Two men are drawing cats.
3. Three women are doing flowers.
4. Four children are counting houses.
5. Five ships have dirty feet.

Такая вот идея - как можно больше предложений с ошибками. Можно одно правильное. Ученики должны исправить ошибку.

2) Ответы на вопросы:

1. Who is selling hats? / What is one man selling?
2. What animals are the men painting? / How many men are painting in the picture?

3) Дети придумывают свои предложения со словами, которые дает учитель -
Важно использовать слова shelves, wolves, oxen...
Но обязательно нужны картинки. Попросите учеников нарисовать их к следующему уроку.

4) На втором уроке сначала повторяем стихотворение, потом пишем его - заполняем пропуски.

One man is selling ___________.
Two men are ______________ cats.
Three women are _______________ flowers.
Four children are counting ____________.
Five sheep have ____________ feet.
Six babies have clean ________________.
Seven _________ are full of rocks.
Eight mice are wearing __________.
One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, _______________,
writing _______________ is really great!

Заданий может быть множество, но самое основное - повторять стихотворение хором и индивидуально и постепенно учить его.

Душевно поём про путешествия

Завтра дам эту песню 9-классникам.

Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster Stewart, welcomed their second son together, Aiden, on Wednesday.

“Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy,” a rep for the couple tells PEOPLE.

This new baby boy is the eighth child for Rod who is 66, and the couple’s second together, they have an older son, Alastair Wallace, who is 5.
Penny used to be a model. Now she is a photographer.

Climbing Kate

Climbing Kate is a 10 year old girl who never sees limitations, only possibilities. For her, challenges are opportunities to explore something new. As a baby, instead of crawling, Climbing Kate was climbing - everywhere. By the time she was two she had already climbed her first tree and never looked back. To date, Climbing Kate has climbed up to the sky and continues to snub her nose at obstacles as she focuses on her next goal. For Kate, the world is a giant playground offering her infinite potential to discover and explore.
