Winter.
***
Snow, snow, everywhere -
On the ground and in the air,
On the fields and in the lain -
On the roof and window pane.
***
While we are sleeping through the night
Snowflakes are falling soft and white.
Floating down with never a sound,
Silently covering all the ground,
Robin comes with his scarlet breast
Calling sweetly, "Wake and see"
We all get up and quickly dress,
Out to the garden rush and with glee.
With sparkling eyes and cheeks a-glow
We romp and shout, "Hooray for snow".
***
Oh, where do you come from
You little flakes of snow?
Falling, falling, softly falling
On the earth below.
On the trees and on the bushes,
On the mountains afar -
Tell me, snowflakes, do you come
From where the angels are?
Early Bird.
Green winter.

Symphony in Yellow
by Oscar Wilde
An omnibus across the bridge
Crawls like a yellow butterfly,
And, here and there a passer-by
Shows like a little restless midge.
Big barges full of yellow hay
Are moored against the shadowy wharf,
And, like a yellow silken scarf,
The thick fog hangs along the quay.
The yellow leaves begin to fade
And flutter from the temple elms,
And at my feet the pale green Thames
Lies like a rod of rippled jade.
A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.
A man can be happy with any woman, as long as he does not love her.
A man can't be too careful in the choice of his enemies.
A man who does not think for himself does not think at all.
A man's face is his autobiography. A woman's face is her work of fiction.
A poet can survive everything but a misprint.
A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.
All art is quite useless.
All bad poetry springs from genuine feeling.
All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.
Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.
Ambition is the last refuge of the failure.
An excellent man; he has no enemies; and none of his friends like him.

Man Is A Fool
As a rule, man is a fool,
When it's hot, he wants it cool;
When it's cool, he wants it hot,
Always wanting what is not.

Winter
by Dorothy Aldis
The street cars are
Like frosted cakes --
All covered up
With cold snowflakes.
The horses' hoofs
Scrunch on the street;
Their eyelashes
Are white with sleet.
And everywhere
The people go --
With faces tickled
By the snow.
October's Party
-----------------
by Eve Merriam
October gave a party,
The trees by hundreds came,
The chestnuts, oaks and maples,
The leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand.
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind - the bend.
Spring.
This is the season
When snowdrops bloom,
When nobody likes
To stay in the room.
This is the season
When birds make their nest.
This is the season
We all like best.
Autumn
Rain and wind, and wind and rain,
Will the summer come again?
Rain on house, on the street,
Wetting all the people’s feet,
Though they run with might and main,
Rain and wind, and wind and rain
