"Annabel Lee" is the last complete poem[1] composed by American author Edgar Allan Poe. Like many of Poe's poems, it explores the theme of the death of a beautiful woman.[2] The narrator, who fell in love with Annabel Lee when they were young, has a love for her so strong that even angels are envious. He retains his love for her even after her death. There has been debate over who, if anyone, was the inspiration for "Annabel Lee". Though many women have been suggested, Poe's wife Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe is one of the more credible candidates. Written in 1849, it was not published until shortly after Poe's death that same year.

I saw you toss the kites on high
And blow the birds about the sky;
And all around I heard you pass,
Like ladies’ skirts across the grass—
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.
I felt you push, I heard you call,
I could not see yourself at all—
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song

O you that are so strong and cold,
O blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

I
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"

II
Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-Tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

III
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

The Arbitrary English Language

We’ll begin with box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox should be oxen, not oxes.
The one fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of mouse should never be meese.
You may find one mouse, or a whole nest of mice,
But the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
Why shouldn’t the plural of pan be called pen?
The cow in the plural may be cows or kine,
But a bow, if repeated, is never called bine;
And the plural of vow is vows, never vine.
If I speak of a foot, and you show me your feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn’t the plural of booth be called beeth?
If the singular is this and the plural is these,
Should the plural of kiss ever be nicknamed keese?
Then one may be that and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren,
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his, him,
But imagine the feminine she, shis and shim!
So English, I think you all will agree,
Is the greatest language you ever did see.
(Anonymous)

phenomenon – phenomena (явление)
datum – data (информация)
formula – formulae (формула)
genius – genii (гений)

I Cannot Go To School Today!
by Shel Silverstein

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zlrVZXkK_-A/TzZ-uik9yiI/AAAAAAAAD7g/Dn9w_YLOCRo/s400/neuspevaemost-323178255.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707888915759614498" />

"I cannot go to school today"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.

My mouth is wet, my throat is dry.
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox.

And there's one more - that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue,
It might be the instamatic flu.

I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke.
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in.

My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My toes are cold, my toes are numb,

I have a sliver in my thumb.

My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,

I think my hair is falling out.

My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,

There's a hole inside my ear.

I have a hangnail, and my heart is ...
What?
a man - men
a woman - women
a child - children
............

One man is selling hats.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IxyE3by8CYw/T19hHopTlaI/AAAAAAAAEYQ/bcD65cKO_5s/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719396835581466018" />

Two men are painting cats.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pGxpMrRBuXc/T19hQytsbPI/AAAAAAAAEYc/9pgHcIv7_u0/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719396992903048434" />

Three women are making flowers.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mWSOwG1pleU/T19pPxyHlQI/AAAAAAAAEZw/4oM55pqVxO8/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719405771566322946" />

Four children are counting hours.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PrN58KoLwXI/T19jeisnBGI/AAAAAAAAEY0/d1OwHZFMU04/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719399428144956514" />

Five sheep have dirty feet.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gvHMiYaZOFc/T19jpyV_x5I/AAAAAAAAEZA/OvShnNVAwLw/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719399621323638674" />

Six babies have clean teeth.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s6PIGWk_65g/T19j2qpknOI/AAAAAAAAEZM/G1fwzi-pRoc/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719399842596560098" />

Seven boxes are full of rocks.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kQ3MTRdaOr8/T19kDmvWJcI/AAAAAAAAEZY/qh7YdpNpgo4/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719400064885335490" />

Eight mice are wearing socks.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BkE31rnqhWs/T19kOpky9LI/AAAAAAAAEZk/vudLSPwCrk8/s400/%25D0%25A0%25D0%25B8%25D1%2581%25D1%2583%25D0%25BD%25D0%25BE%25D0%25BA8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5719400254624953522" />

One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight,
writing poems is really great!

True or False:

1. One man is buying hats.
2. Two men are drawing cats.
3. Three women are doing flowers.
4. Four children are counting houses.
5. Five ships have dirty feet.

1. Who is selling hats? / What is one man selling?
2. What animals are the men painting? / How many men are painting in the picture?

One man is selling ___________.
Two men are ______________ cats.
Three women are _______________ flowers.
Four children are counting ____________.
Five sheep have ____________ feet.
Six babies have clean ________________.
Seven _________ are full of rocks.
Eight mice are wearing __________.
One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, _______________,
writing _______________ is really great!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 360px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ysTZgBv2rRQ/TxmBwgBIChI/AAAAAAAADss/A8t7OfZURQo/s400/Rod%2BStewart%2B-%2BSome%2BGuys%2BHave%2BAll%2BThe%2BLuck.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699729473642433042" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 242px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4bQqqupGFqo/TxmA96Hvo2I/AAAAAAAADsU/gVzFKBK7oT8/s400/Rod%252BStewart%252BPenny%252BLancaster%252BStewart.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699728604476187490" />

Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster Stewart, welcomed their second son together, Aiden, on Wednesday.

“Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy,” a rep for the couple tells PEOPLE.

This new baby boy is the eighth child for Rod who is 66, and the couple’s second together, they have an older son, Alastair Wallace, who is 5.
Penny used to be a model. For her, challenges are opportunities to explore something new. As a baby, instead of crawling, Climbing Kate was climbing - everywhere. By the time she was two she had already climbed her first tree and never looked back. To date, Climbing Kate has climbed up to the sky and continues to snub her nose at obstacles as she focuses on her next goal.
NO THANK YOU
by Shel Silverstein

No I do not want a kitten,
No cute, cuddly kitty-poo,
No more long hair in my cornflakes,
No more midnight meowing mews.

No more scratching, snarling, spitters,
No more sofas clawed to shreds,
No more smell of kitty litter,
No more mousies in my bed.

No I will not take that kitten –
I’ve had lice and I’ve had fleas,
I’ve been scratched and sprayed and bitten,
I’ve developed allergies.

If you’ve got an ape, I’ll take him,
If you have a lion, that’s fine,
If you brought some walking bacon,
Leave him here, I’ll treat him kind.

I have room for mice and gerbils,
I have beds for boars and bats,
But please, please take away that kitten –
Quick – ‘fore it becomes a cat.
Well… it is kind of cute at that.

Anne Boleyn
(R.L. Weston and Bert Lee.)

In the Tower of London, large as life,
The ghost of Anne Boleyn walks, they declare.
For Anne Boleyn was once King Henry's wife,
Until he had the headsman bob her hair.
Oh, yes, he did her wrong long years ago,
And she comes back at night to tell him so.

Chorus:
With her 'ead tucked underneath her arm,
She walks the bloody Tower,
With her head tucked underneath her arm,
At the midnight hour.

She comes to haunt King Henry, she means giving him what-for
Gadzooks, she's going to tell him off, for spilling of her gore.
And just in case the headsman wants to give her encore,
She has her head tucked underneath her arm.

Now sometimes gay King Henry gives a spread,
For all his pals and gals, a ghastly crew,
The 'eadsman carve the joint and cuts the bread,
When in comes Anne Boleyn to queer the do.
She holds her head up with a wild war whoop,
And Henry cries, "don't drop it in the soup!"

She walks the endless corridors, for miles and miles she goes,
She often catches cold, poor dear, it's drafty when it blows,
And it's awfully, awfully awkward for the queen to blow her nose,
With her head tucked underneath her arm.

The sentries think that it's a football that she carries in,
And when they've had a few they shout, "Is Army going to win?"
They think that it's Red Grange instead of poor old Anne Boleyn
With her head tucked underneath her arm.

One night she caught King Henry, he was in the canteen bar,
He said, "Are you Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, or Catherine Parr?
Well, how <do you expect me to know who in Hell you> are?
With your head tucked underneath your arm?

Recorded in the early 30s by, of all people, Rudy Vallee; also
(later, I think) by Stanley Holloway. RG
Note: Henry VIII only beheaded two of his wives -
Anne Boleyn and Kate Howard. Remember : divorced
(Katherine of Aragon), beheaded(Anne B), died (Jane
Seymour); divorced (Anne of Cleves), beheaded (Kate
Howard), survived(Kate Parr). (SOF)

<there seems to be some disagreement on exact wording here. Any authorities?>

"The guards all think that it's a football that she carries in
And when they've had a few, they shout "Is Arsenal going to win?"
They think that it's Alec James instead of poor old Anne Boleyn etc."

and
"for how the sweet san fairy ann do I know who you are"

(a later addition)
The sentries think that Anee is hauling 'round a rugby ball;
When dinner's done they'll push the chairs and tables to the wall
And then the'll choose up sides and kick the Queen around the hall!
With 'er 'ead tucked underneath 'er arm!

The most important thing we've learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set --
Or better still, just don't install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we've been,
We've watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone's place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they're hypnotised by it,
Until they're absolutely drunk
With all that shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don't climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink --
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSE IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK -- HE ONLY SEES!
'All right!' you'll cry. 'All right!' you'll say,
'But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!'
We'll answer this by asking you,
'What used the darling ones to do?
'How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?'
Have you forgotten? Don't you know?
We'll say it very loud and slow:
THEY ... USED ... TO ... READ! They'd READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching 'round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it's Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and-
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How the Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There's Mr. Rate and Mr. Mole-
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks-
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They'll now begin to feel the need
Of having something to read.
And once they start -- oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They'll grow so keen
They'll wonder what they'd ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did.
(Roald Dahl)
Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout:
Tip me over
and pour me out!

My parents sent me to the store
to buy a loaf of bread.
I came home with a puppy
and a parakeet instead.

I came home with a guinea pig,
a hamster and a cat,
a turtle and a lizard
and a friendly little rat.

I also had a monkey
and a mongoose and a mouse.
Those animals went crazy
when I brought them in the house.

They barked and yelped and hissed
and chased my family out the door.
My parents never let me
do the shopping anymore.

I Don't Know What to Do Today

I don't know what to do today.
Perhaps I'll go outside and play,
or stay indoors and watch TV,
or take a bath, or climb a tree.

Or maybe I'll go ride my bike,
or pick my nose, or take a hike,
or jump a rope, or scratch my head,
or play a game, or stay in bed,
or dance a jig, or pet the cat,
or drink some milk, or buy a hat,
or sing a song, or read a book,
or change my socks, or learn to cook,
or dig a hole, or eat a pear,
or call my friends, or brush my hair,
or hold my breath, or have a race,
or stand around and slap my face.

I'm so confused, and bored, and blue,
to not know what I ought to do.
I guess that I should just ask you.
So, what do you think I should do?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206464926173360164noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8344191114952608511.post-69761571323722648582011-12-13T04:53:00.000-08:002011-12-13T05:01:39.653-08:00ЗарядкаУвы, это необходимо делать на уроках.

Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth-Toast
by Charles Causley

Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth-Toast
Bought an old castle complete with a ghost,
But someone or other forgot to declare
To Colonel Fazak that the spectre was there.

On the very first evening, while waiting to dine,
The Colonel was taking a fine sherry wine,
When the ghost, with a furious flash and a flare,
Shot out of the chimney and shivered, 'Beware!'

Colonel Fazackerley put down his glass
And said, 'My dear fellow, that's really first class!
I just can't conceive how you do it at all.
I imagine you're going to a Fancy Dress Ball?'

At this, the dread ghost made a withering cry.
Said the Colonel (his monocle firm in his eye),
'Now just how you do it, I wish I could think.
Do sit down and tell me, and please have a drink.'

The ghost in his phosphorous cloak gave a roar
And floated about between ceiling and floor.
He walked through a wall and returned through a pane
And backed up the chimney and came down again.

Said the Colonel, 'With laughter I'm feeling quite weak!'
(As trickles of merriment ran down his cheek).
'My house-warming party I hope you won't spurn.
You MUST say you'll come and you'll give us a turn!'

At this, the poor spectre - quite out of his wits -
Proceeded to shake himself almost to bits.
He rattled his chains and he clattered his bones
And he filled the whole castle with mumbles and moans.

But Colonel Fazackerley, just as before,
Was simply delighted and called out, 'Encore!'
At which the ghost vanished, his efforts in vain,
And never was seen at the castle again.

'Oh dear, what a pity!' said Colonel Fazak.
'I don't know his name, so I can't call him back.'
And then with a smile that was hard to define,
Colonel Fazackerley went in to dine.

In the town where I was born,
Lived a man who sailed to sea,
And he told us of his life,
In the land of submarines,

So we sailed on to the sun,
Till we found the sea green,
And we lived beneath the waves,
In our yellow submarine,

We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

And our friends are all aboard,
Many more of them live next door,
And the band begins to play.

(Trumpets play)

We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

(Full speed ahead, Mr. Barkley, full speed ahead!
Full speed over here, sir!
All together! All together!
Aye, aye, sir, fire!
Captain! Captain!)

As we live a life of ease(life of ease)
Every one of us(every one of us) has all we need,(has all we need)
Sky of blue,(sky of blue) and sea green,(sea of green)
In our yellow(In our yellow) submarine.(submarine) ( Haha! )

We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
